Inessa Gerber, Quality
Assurance Analyst, Information Builders |
 |
| "First of all I would like
to thank you for everything that you did for me. If it wasn't
for you and for the great organization NYSIA, I would be probably
still looking for a job. My official title is "quality
assurance analyst", and involves system development in
a sense that I would be meeting with customers (on conferences)
to see what functionality they need in our system and to explain
how to use the current build.
The XML and Java certification that I received through NYSIA
and CUNY grad center is very helpful, since I deal a lot with
XML and Java. Overall, I like the job and the people I work
with." This position is full-time. |

Shima Nakazawa |
 |
| I worked for QlikTech, software
marketing company for a period of 4 months. My experience with
them has been fantastic. I've learned a lot of things by just
trying to figure out things on my own. Also, I programmed some
applications to have them easily deal with their administrative
data.
There are lots of things we can learn by actually doing
things in a real work place, not by just sitting in a class
room. QlikTech employees knew that I was an intern; so of
course, they didn't expect me to know "everything";
as long as I could give them what they needed, they were happy
with me. I now know this internship was the best way to not
only gain technical skills, but also gain the skills for how
to interact with people in a work place. |

Michael Khoury |
 |
| Michael was a senior at The College of Staten
Island when he was accepted into NYSIA's program. He
got an internship at Progressive Systems Consulting, developing
web projects using Microsoft's latest technologies. Michael
had this to say about how he was able to get to this level:
"Working hard and staying focused on my goals were the
main elements to achieve my goals. Of course, the internship
position and the good computer science program at The College
of Staten Island were very important factors. Thanks to NYSIA,
PSC, and CUNY for their roll in my success!" Michael
is now a Software Design Engineer in Microsoft's International
Group, Outlook Application. |
