NYSIA's Commitment to Privacy |
|
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online and offline information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To contact us regarding this policy or to remove your information from our database, please email us at privacy@nysia.org or contact us by telephone at (212) 475-4503 and ask for the Privacy Officer. This Privacy Policy covers the practices and policies of the New York Software Industry Association ("NYSIA"), a trade association for metropolitan New York area software and information technology companies. Our Web site address is www.nysia.org, with a postal address of 55 Broad Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY USA 10004-2501. The Information We Collect and How We Use It This notice applies to information collected or submitted to the NYSIA offline or through our Web site. The information we collect falls into three generic categories: 1) information voluntarily submitted, 2) information gathered via electronic means, and 3) information obtained from third parties for membership development purposes. Information voluntarily submitted to NYSIA either online or in writing through membership applications, meeting registration, publication orders, and survey response forms is stored in a central database. NYSIA and its agents understand member involvement levels, facilitate technology and economic development in New York, and deliver appropriate services. The type of personally identifiable information voluntarily submitted on these forms includes name, title, address, phone and fax numbers, email addresses and URLs. We also keep company contact information and payment data to facilitate purchases and membership renewal. On occasion, NYSIA will contract with third parties for co-marketing or other activities related to NYSIA's mission. We make these arrangements only when information is to be used exclusively to provide services related to NYSIA membership. These contracts include a confidentiality agreement and will never provide third party access to credit card numbers or other sensitive payment details. NYSIA registers your Internet Protocol ("IP") address when you visit the nysia.org Web site to help diagnose possible technical problems and to administer Web site quality. The IP address often does not identify an individual, and can be a temporary name by which an individual obtains access to the NYSIA Web site. NYSIA does not use IP addresses or clickstream data to personally identify users. Our agents and we use log files to determine statistically which areas of our site visitors like based on the volume of traffic and to better prepare future site content based on the interests of our users. NYSIA does not track the usage patterns of individual users, but rather how well each page on our site performs overall. Some parts of the NYSIA Web site may also use cookies, though we do not allow any banner ads that collect data from you during your visit. Cookies are bits of information that are stored on your computer when you visit a Web site. They allow the Web site to recognize you when you return and, among other things, load your page more quickly. If you find the NYSIA cookie objectionable, you may delete it from your hard drive and set your browser to notify you when a cookie is placed. As part of NYSIA's effort to reach out to the New York technology community, we often receive information from third parties about companies and individuals that may benefit from NYSIA's programs. When this information is received it is input into the database alongside of information voluntarily submitted. By doing this, these companies and individuals gain the ability to receive information, become members, attend an event, and / or remove themselves from our mailing list or database. Accessing and Updating Your InformationNYSIA takes appropriate measures to assure the reliability of member records and to protect them from loss, misuse or alteration. Member records are stored on a server that is not Web-connected. If you have questions about what information we currently hold about you or your organization or would like to make updates or changes, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you. Opting Out NYSIA members who receive an email newsletter can opt out by following the instructions contained in the newsletter. Data Security The security of the information you provide to us is taken very seriously at NYSIA. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect both offline and online. While we take reasonable efforts to ensure the security of information, there is no guarantee that any data transmitted over the Internet is 100% secure; this is the case for any users of and service providers on the Internet. Assignments At some point
NYSIA may wish to assign or transfer its obligations and rights under
this policy to a third party. You agree that NYSIA may do so, on the condition
that NYSIA first requires such third party, in writing, to either abide
this Privacy Policy or notify you of the change and allow you to remove
your name from its database. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy Protecting
children on the Internet is very important. For that reason, NYSIA never
intentionally collects information at our Web site from those we actually
know are under 13, and no part of our Web site is structured to attract
anyone under 13. Changes to this Privacy Policy NYSIA reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time to clarify or improve our Policy, as long as it does not decrease the protection already provided by these provisions. Changes will be posted to this page and the "Last update" date will reflect the date of the most recent changes. NYSIA invites users to review our Privacy Policy whenever they visit the site. Continued use of our site and services after the posting of these changes constitutes acceptance of these changes. |
